Yogi’s Varanasi Visit to Unveil Teacher Cashless Health Initiative on July 8

On July 8, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will travel to Varanasi to unveil the "Chief Minister Teacher Cashless Healthcare" scheme. The scheme mirrors the benefits of the Ayushman Bharat PM Jan Arogya Yojana, offering cash‑free treatment to qualified teachers of the Basic and Secondary Education departments and their dependents. A digital framework has been introduced to ensure transparent administration: an online data‑collection portal records teacher information, which is then verified by Block Education Officers and cleared by District Basic Education Officers. To date, 789,032 teachers have entered their details on the Basic Education portal. Once approved, the data is linked with the National Health Authority’s Beneficiary Identification System, completing e‑KYC and allowing beneficiaries to download a digital health card. A separate portal for Secondary Education teachers launched on July 3, with school principals performing verification before District Inspectors of Schools sign off. After integration, teachers can access cashless services at any hospital covered under the national Ayushman Bharat scheme, easing financial strain during major illnesses. The state also intends to create a similar portal for Higher Education staff, expanding coverage to university and college teachers.
