Yogi Government’s Leprosy Pension Supports Thousands of Differently‑Abled Citizens

Lucknow, July 30 – The administration of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath continues to prioritize social welfare for under‑served sections of society. A flagship initiative, the Leprosy Disability Pension, managed by the Department of Differently‑Abled Persons, has delivered regular financial aid to 13,734 leprosy‑affected individuals in the first quarter of FY 2026‑27.

The scheme dispensed ₹3,000 each month per beneficiary, with a total outlay of ₹1,231.17 lakh for the period. Eligibility is anchored on three pillars: a disability certificate from the district’s chief medical officer, an annual family income of no more than ₹2 lakh, and exclusive residence in Uttar Pradesh without enrollment in other government pension programs.

Dr. Amit Kumar Rai, Assistant Director, reiterated the commitment to ensure that the pension reaches all rightful claimants swiftly and transparently, thereby reinforcing the state’s dedication to inclusive growth and dignified living standards for leprosy‑affected citizens.
