Yatindra Demands Probe into Sting Targeting Siddaramaiah

Mysuru: Minister Yatindra Siddaramaiah, the son of former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, has called for a thorough investigation into a sting operation connected to his father, alleging that some individuals from within the Congress and a media professional may be involved.

According to Yatindra, the sting was meant to destroy the political legacy Siddaramaiah has built over roughly 40 years and to blackmail him. He said the probe must establish whether those appearing in the video acted voluntarily or on the instructions of others.

While speaking to journalists, he said the video suggested the participation of certain Congress leaders and a senior media figure. He argued that the conditions in which the sting was carried out must be carefully examined before any conclusions are drawn.

"This sting operation was done to damage his image, destroy his legacy and blackmail him. The video reveals that leaders of our own party and a media person are part of it. The investigation should show clearly whether they acted on their own or at someone else's request," he said.

Yatindra clarified that he had no suspicion about any specific person and stressed that only an impartial inquiry could uncover the truth. Addressing the question of Congress involvement, he said the video featured a woman leader. He claimed she had sought the Congress ticket to contest from the Puttur assembly constituency.

"On the face of it, this could be the reason behind the sting. Still, we cannot say the entire party has conspired against us merely because one worker was involved," he remarked.

He also said his father was deeply pained by false news and allegations spread against him. Yatindra underlined that Siddaramaiah had remained in public life for about four decades without facing any such charges, making the controversy particularly distressing at this stage of his career.

On his mother's reaction, Yatindra said she was currently in Mysuru and did not have complete information about the matter. He believed she would feel reassured once she learned that her husband had not done anything wrong.

The police are investigating the alleged sting, including the doubtful role of individuals whose names have come up in connection with the video.
