World’s Longest Hydrogen Train Launched in Haryana

Haryana became the launchpad for the world’s longest hydrogen‑fuel‑cell passenger train on July 17. The ten‑coach train, equipped with a 3,200 hp propulsion system, is among the most powerful hydrogen‑driven units in operation.

Fuel‑cell technology converts stored hydrogen into electricity, producing only steam as exhaust. This eliminates carbon emissions during regular service on the Jind‑Sonipat route.

Railway officials emphasized that the train is fully designed, engineered, and integrated within India, showcasing the country’s growing expertise in advanced rail engineering. Prior successful trials of electric, diesel and CNG locomotives paved the way for this pioneering hydrogen project.
