Workers returning from Gwalior lose lives in Bhind vehicle smash

Eight construction workers from Gwalior were killed when their pickup collided with a dump truck near the village of Chhimka, situated on the Gwalior‑Bhind highway in Madhya Pradesh. The incident happened close to the Gohad Chowk junction, where the two vehicles met head‑on. The crash was violent enough to detach the rear segment of the pickup, scattering debris across the roadway.

According to statements from the survivors, the laborers were traveling home after a day's job when the dump truck, traveling at high speed, struck their vehicle. The scene was chaotic, with cries for help echoing through the area. Police and ambulance teams arrived swiftly, evacuating the injured to the nearest Community Health Centre and subsequently to Jaiyarogya Hospital for more severe cases.

Medical reports indicate that five of the deceased died on the spot, while three more passed away en route to the hospital. All bodies have been preserved for post‑mortem examination. The tragedy has prompted local authorities to call for stricter enforcement of speed limits and better monitoring of heavy vehicle movements on the highway.
