Women’s Hostel Projects and Research Chairs Sanctioned in UP

The cabinet cleared three key education proposals aligned with the National Education Policy‑2020. A "Rani Laxmi Bai Scooter Scheme" will supply petrol‑powered scooters to the top 5 % of female students in government‑aided and private colleges from FY 2025‑26, earmarking INR 400 crore for roughly 50,000 beneficiaries, with priority for differently‑abled and families of martyrs. Additionally, research chairs will be set up in qualifying universities (INR 2 crore each) and colleges (INR 1 crore each) as fixed‑deposit funds, supporting institutions older than 50 years with a capacity of over 5,000 students. A new women’s hostel for 112 students at Banaras Hindu University will receive INR 2.48 crore, while a 500‑bed “Chief Minister Shramjivi” hostel in Varanasi also gained approval.
