Women empowerment drive: SPD's 2027 election manifesto highlights

The Socialist Party’s 2027 Uttar Pradesh election manifesto placed women at the centre of its development strategy. Dubbed the "Women Respect Prosperity Scheme," it guarantees a yearly subsidy of Rs 40,000 to every woman, with a promise to raise the amount after the party assumes power.

Key manifesto points include laptops for 12th‑grade daughters, a comprehensive transport scheme offering free metro rides via special cards, and the re‑opening of more than 26,000 primary schools that were previously shuttered.

The SP also highlighted its past infrastructure for women’s safety: a 1,090‑line women’s helpline, a network of 102 ambulances, and the introduction of public toilets named "Ijzatghar" to ensure dignified facilities.

In addition, the party called for the immediate implementation of the women’s reservation law, demanded better public sanitation, and promised to restart a bicycle distribution program for students. Akhilesh Yadav criticised the current BJP government for providing only token gestures, such as free bus rides for senior women, while neglecting broader empowerment measures.
