Women Celebrate Financial Freedom Under New Delhi Scheme

The inauguration of the Delhi Lakshmi Scheme on August 26 sparked enthusiasm among women across the capital.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced a monthly cash grant of INR 2,500 for each eligible woman, to be transferred directly to their bank accounts via DBT from September 1 onward.

Thousands of women received acceptance letters at the event, marking the first step toward regular financial support.

One participant expressed heartfelt gratitude, noting that the timing before Raksha Bandhan provides essential help for her family. Another described the grant as a manifestation of independence for housewives, comparing it to the patriotic pride felt on Independence Day.

The scheme was previewed by the CM on her Twitter account, where she emphasized that the funds would serve as a safety cushion, inspire new ambitions, and empower women to make decisions with confidence.

BJP legislator Anil Goyal commented that the program fulfills a campaign promise made when the Delhi government was formed, underscoring that the party’s commitments are being realized.

Officials report that registration numbers are soaring, with hundreds of thousands of women already on board, indicating broad acceptance of the empowerment drive.
