Woman Doctor Reports Sexual Harassment at South Kolkata Multiplex; Six Held

Police authorities in Kolkata reported that six men have been arrested after a female doctor accused them of sexual harassment inside a multiplex located in Kasba, South Kolkata. The doctor, who lives in Banshadruni, attended a Sunday evening film screening with her husband and friends at Acropolis Mall. She alleges that a group of six individuals continuously harassed her with obscene remarks throughout the show and physically attacked her when she tried to stop them. The mall's management intervened immediately and informed the local police. Officers arrived swiftly, but the accused resisted, causing a heated exchange with the officers and other cinema-goers. The suspects – Anand Kumar, Suresh Kumar, Arvind Kumar, Srijan Darbar, Manoj Roy, and Arindam Ghosh – were identified through their ID cards and placed under arrest. One suspect, Srijan, claimed to be a Jadavpur University student and warned of dire consequences if detained. The case has been registered under appropriate legal provisions, and the investigation continues.
