Welfare Pensions Increased as West Bengal Takes Steps to Remedy Fiscal Mismanagement

During the same event, the CM outlined additional steps his administration is taking to clean up the welfare system. He warned that fraudulent claims – such as men receiving widows’ pensions – have been detected and will be eliminated.

The government has also announced the cancellation of all waiting lists prepared by the former administration. New enrollment camps will be set up, allowing genuine applicants to register afresh for benefits.

These measures aim to ensure that only eligible citizens receive assistance, thereby preserving limited resources and strengthening public confidence in the state’s welfare delivery.
