Weapons, cash seized as Uttar Pradesh police nab suspect
Uttar Pradesh police announced the successful capture of a man linked to a chain‑snatching episode that occurred in Mainpuri's Kotwali area. The suspect, identified as Abrar, was intercepted while traveling toward the Elao police jurisdiction.
A routine checkpoint turned violent when Abrar opened fire on the police team, resulting in a bullet wound to a constable and a return shot that struck Abrar’s leg. He was immediately placed under arrest.
A comprehensive search of the suspect’s possessions uncovered illegal tamacha, cartridges, a motorcycle and a cash cache of INR 16,000. Police reports confirm Abrar has several ongoing criminal cases.
ASP City Arun Kumar arrived promptly, oversaw the collection of seized items, and arranged for the wounded constable’s hospitalization. The law‑enforcement agency continues to pursue two additional members of the gang, conducting raids and monitoring intelligence inputs.
CCTV analysis helped pinpoint the vehicle used in the crime, which was later recovered in Itawa after a coordinated operation involving multiple police units.
