In a strongly worded statement issued from Mumbai, AIMIM leader Waris Pathan charged the state government with manufacturing communal tension on Eid-ul-Adha by obstructing traditional Qurbani practices. Pathan, who also serves as the party’s national spokesperson, said the entire country is celebrating the festival peacefully, yet authorities in Maharashtra appear focused on creating obstacles for Muslims. He pointed to multiple housing societies where residents have been barred from bringing goats despite obtaining necessary permissions in previous years. According to Pathan, these sudden restrictions coincide with political directives aimed at provoking clashes. He also raised concerns over the abrupt cancellation of BMC approvals for designated sacrifice sites, arguing that such moves leave the community with no lawful avenue to perform religious duties. The leader questioned the selective enforcement of rules, noting that other religious gatherings continue on streets without interference. Pathan appealed to the Chief Minister to recognize the pattern and act before the situation escalates. He concluded by stressing that Eid should remain an occasion for harmony, not an opportunity for political provocation.
