Wanted Murder Suspect Javed Injured in Shahdara Gunfight, Police Seize Illegal Alcohol
NEW DELHI, Oct 6 — A late‑night gunfight in Shahdara left Javed, a wanted murder suspect, wounded and a woman beside him slashed with a knife. The incident was reported at 9:20 p.m., and police units reached the location promptly. Both victims were taken to a hospital and are now reported to be out of critical condition.
Javed’s background includes a pending murder case from Simarpuri police station in October of the previous year, for which the Delhi police had announced a ₹50,000 reward. Authorities say the perpetrators of the shooting have been identified and arrests are expected soon.
In a separate crackdown, the Anti‑Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) intercepted a massive haul of illegal liquor near the Jwala Nagar railway line in the Vivak Vihar area. A search of a stopped vehicle uncovered 5,000 quarters of contraband. The alleged supplier, Kuldeep alias Bunti, was arrested on the spot, and a tempo and scooter used for transport were seized. Ongoing interrogations aim to uncover the source and distribution routes of the illicit liquor.
A third operation targeted the spate of two‑wheel thefts in the district. An ATS team set a trap in the GTB police area, apprehending a suspect named Ankit, 28, from Mandoli. A search of his vehicle yielded one stolen motorcycle, and further questioning led to the recovery of four additional bikes – two from Shahdara, two from East Delhi, and one from North Delhi. Ankit already has two criminal cases on record.
These three coordinated actions reflect the district’s aggressive stance against violent crime, illegal liquor trade, and motorbike theft.
