In an inspiring speech at Mizoram University’s 20th convocation in Aizawl, Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan congratulated the graduates and positioned them as key players in realizing ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047.
The Vice President was captivated by the campus’s natural splendor, calling it among India’s most beautiful and a shining example of education infused with tranquility and intent.
He spotlighted the Northeast’s remarkable progress in the last ten years, crediting PM Modi’s vision for placing the region at the forefront of national development. Enhanced infrastructure, including the Bairabi-Sairang rail link, alongside UDAN flights and PM-DEVINE projects, is accelerating growth and opening doors for locals.
Emphasizing the 2047 developed India goal, Radhakrishnan exhorted the youth to focus on generating opportunities rather than merely hunting for employment. He outlined vast prospects in sectors like eco-tourism, bamboo-based enterprises, organic agriculture, artisanal crafts, and tech-driven services tailored to the Northeast’s strengths.
A note of caution came on the scourge of substance abuse plaguing the young. He passionately appealed for abstinence from drugs, discipline in daily conduct, and mindful engagement with digital platforms—urging mastery over technology instead of servitude to it.
Celebrating Mizoram’s endowments—its verdant landscapes, impressive literacy, indigenous customs, and green ethos—Radhakrishnan applauded the solar-powered university campus. He rallied the students to champion eco-friendly practices and sustainable development.
This convocation address not only marked a milestone for the graduates but also ignited a call to action for Northeast youth to drive India’s transformative journey ahead.
