Gulmarg, one of Jammu‑Kashmir’s premier holiday spots, is currently bathed in the hues of the national flag. A 110‑foot tall tricolour has been erected to mark the run‑up to Independence Day, instantly becoming a magnet for tourists seeking both natural beauty and a patriotic vibe.

Travelers arriving from across the country describe the sight of the high‑flying flag as a highlight of their journey. Tripura resident Shobhan Das, a first‑time visitor to the region, voiced his joy and invited people from other states to explore Kashmir, especially during the flag‑raising celebrations.

Srinivas Rao, traveling from Hyderabad, lauded the combination of the impressive flag and the tight security that has been put in place. He said the flag reinforced his sense of national pride and noted that the presence of security personnel has made tourists feel protected while they admire Gulmarg’s landscapes.
