Madhya Pradesh Minister Vishwas Sarang launched a blistering critique against Congress on Monday, branding them as perpetual adversaries of Hindu traditions who have now stooped to handing out Islamic Hijri calendars. ‘Congress will cross any limit for appeasement politics,’ he asserted forcefully.
During his interaction with the media in Bhopal, Sarang highlighted the stark hypocrisy. ‘Show me one instance where Congress promoted Hindu festivals with literature or materials. Instead, they consistently undermine Sanatan Dharma, Hindu saints, and celebrations. Now this Hijri calendar stunt—what message are they sending?’
Sarang pointed out Congress’s election-time theatrics: donning the janeu to appeal to Hindu voters, only to pivot to minority appeasement once the cameras are off. He contrasted this with their knee-jerk accusations of ‘saffron terror’ against BJP’s religious initiatives, while their own actions scream favoritism.
Bringing up the Ram Mandir controversy, Sarang reminded everyone of Congress’s affidavit in the Supreme Court questioning Lord Ram’s historicity, juxtaposed against their current calendar distribution. ‘This duplicity is pure vote-bank engineering at the expense of Hindu feelings,’ he charged.
The controversy erupted after Narela Congress leader Manoj Shukla printed and distributed 50,000 Hijri calendars targeting the area’s 28% Muslim demographic—over 100,000 voters. Congress defends it as cultural harmony, but BJP sees it as emboldening radical elements ahead of elections.
