Three Dead in Virar Flat: Police Probe Suspected Suicide Case

Police in Virar, Maharashtra, are investigating the deaths of three siblings, two brothers and a sister, whose bodies were found in a closed flat. Preliminary indications point towards suicide, though officials have not confirmed the cause.

The bodies were located in a flat in the K Avenue building of Global City, Virar West. The flat, number 1203 in Wing D, had been shut. The discovery on Thursday created a stir in the locality.

According to the senior inspector of Boling Police Station, neighbours raised an alarm late the previous night after noticing a foul odour from the flat. Officers arrived, broke the door open and found the three deceased inside.

Police estimate the age of the deceased at roughly 45 to 50 years. One of them reportedly recorded a video on a mobile phone shortly before death, saying he intended to take his life. The motive behind the incident remains unknown.

There is a suspicion that the siblings consumed poison. Authorities also said one of them was battling cancer and that money problems existed at home. Police are examining all possible dimensions of the case.

The bodies have been handed over for postmortem after being taken into possession. An Accidental Death Report has been registered. Police are analysing the postmortem report, the mobile phone video and other material to understand what led to the deaths.
