In Virar, approximately 2.88 lakh electricity customers have collectively saved close to ₹4 crore this financial year, according to Mahavitaran data. The previous year’s savings stood at ₹3.27 crore, highlighting the growing impact of smart‑meter adoption. The devices provide real‑time consumption data on a mobile platform, enabling users to track usage by the hour, detect abnormal draw, and benefit from time‑of‑day discounts—specifically, an 85‑paisa per unit cut for power used between 9 am and 5 pm. Additional perks include digital‑payment discounts and a monthly ₹10 rebate under the “Go Green” initiative.
