Violent Incident in Disputed Fuldugseng Village Highlights Tensions
In May 2025, a partially constructed tourism building in Fuldugseng village of North Tripura was damaged when unidentified assailants threw medium‑intensity explosives. The structure, part of a ₹3.12‑crore eco‑tourism scheme funded under a central rural development program, suffered extensive damage. Police from both states rushed to the site, cordoned the area and deployed additional security personnel to prevent further unrest.
The village lies in a zone claimed by both Tripura and Mizoram, making it a flashpoint for prolonged disputes. Over the years, construction activities by either side have repeatedly triggered objections from the other, and local civic groups have staged protests against perceived encroachments.
