Violent Clash After School Football Match Leads to 17‑Year‑Old’s Death in South 24‑Parganas

A tragic incident in West Bengal’s South 24‑Parganas district left a teenage schoolboy dead after a violent fallout from a school‑organised football game. The 17‑year‑old student, Prosenjit Biswas of Fultala, Baruipur, had previously engaged in a sharp verbal dispute with a local youth gang during a match at a community ground.

According to locals, the agitation lingered, and the aggrieved group plotted retaliation. Police investigators say the accused summoned Prosenjit and a classmate to the Palpara area on a Monday, where a confrontation escalated into an alleged stabbing with sharp instruments. Both victims received grave injuries; Prosenjit suffered a fatal chest wound.

Emergency services rushed the boys to Baruipur Sub‑District Hospital. Despite intensive medical efforts, Prosenjit was pronounced dead, while his friend remains in critical care.

The community’s reaction was immediate and heated, with relatives and neighbours assembling at the hospital demanding accountability. The accused allegedly took shelter in the police assistance centre within the hospital premises, heightening the crowd’s anger. Law enforcement intervened, secured the suspects, and transported them to a police station for detention.

Baruipur’s Sub‑Divisional Police Officer confirmed three arrests and indicated that the murder is a consequence of the lingering football dispute. A post‑mortem is pending, and additional police units have been deployed to maintain peace in an area already under the spotlight for other criminal allegations.
