Vincent Pala alleges BJP pressure ahead of August 13 parliamentary recess

In his speech, Vincent H. Pala accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party of issuing a political whip demanding swift passage of the FCRA amendment before the scheduled parliamentary holiday on August 13. He suggested that the bill could be introduced “today, tomorrow or the day after” under party pressure.

Pala described the draft as “one of the most dangerous bills in history,” contending that it aims to control foreign contribution beyond the legitimate scope of regulation. He reiterated that the Congress is not opposed to preventing misuse of foreign funds, but that the proposed amendments overreach and threaten democratic institutions.

The leader called for a united stand among opposition parties to halt the hurried legislation and protect the autonomy of NGOs, educational bodies and religious institutions.
