Village Panchayats to Rate ODF Status and Waste Management

During a virtual gathering on September 15, Union Minister C.R. Patil launched the Swachh Service Assessment (SSA), a digital appraisal mechanism for the Rural Swachh Bharat Mission.

Gram panchayats, together with Water and Sanitation Committees, will annually assess ODF sustainability, visual cleanliness and solid‑liquid waste management.

The assessments are discussed in Gram Sabhas and then transmitted to higher authorities for evidence‑based decision‑making.
