Vijaya Rahatkar Inspects Sakhi Van OSC and Distributes Aid in Kanauj

On July 10, Vijaya Rahatkar, the Chairperson of the National Commission for Women, inspected the Sakhi Van One Stop Centre in Kanauj. The visit included a thorough review of the centre’s facilities and services offered to women facing distress.

During the inspection, Rahatkar addressed staff members, urging them to ensure rapid, sensitive and effective assistance to every woman who approaches the OSC. She reiterated the importance of adhering to the POSH Act and maintaining transparent grievance mechanisms.

In the same event, the NCW distributed a range of support items: mobile phones for women, check‑books for children, and scientific equipment to local institutions. The chairperson also oversaw the hand‑out of welfare benefits to beneficiaries of various government schemes, and participated in newborn feeding ceremonies and a "Go D Bharai" ceremony celebrating motherhood.

The outreach underscored the commission’s commitment to not only enforce legal safeguards but also to provide tangible resources that empower women and families in the region.
