Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) leader and actor Vijay met with the families of those who tragically lost their lives in the recent Karur stampede. The gathering took place at a hotel in Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu, on Monday, offering a space for support and solidarity. Earlier reports indicated that these grieving families were brought to Chennai to engage with the TVK chief. The devastating stampede, which occurred on September 27 during a political event organized by the TVK chief in Karur, resulted in the deaths of 41 individuals. In the wake of the tragedy, TVK had previously transferred Rs. 20 lakh to the affected families. Expressing his deep sorrow, Vijay had assured ongoing support, stating, “The unbearable and painful incident in Karur has left us mourning the loss of our dear family members. In this difficult time, I want to assure you once again that we will stand with you in every possible way, offering comfort and support.” The Supreme Court has ordered a CBI probe into the incident, with IPS officer Praveen Kumar leading the investigation in Karur, supported by a dedicated CBI team.
