Vice President Praises Ayodhya’s Grand Deepotsav, Calls It Unprecedented
Lucknow, 8 November – The Deepotsav in Ayodhya was described by Uttar Pradesh Tourism and Culture Minister Jayveer Singh as a spectacular and historic success, marking the tenth celebration under the current administration. The centerpiece of the event was the lighting of over three million diyas, a record that eclipsed the previous nine editions.
The Vice President presided as chief guest, flanked by the chief minister, deputy chief minister, several central ministers and a multitude of senior officials. Devotees of Lord Rama, both domestic and overseas, thronged the site, creating a vibrant congregation of faith.
The program showcased elaborate stage performances that dramatized the seven Kandas of the Ramayana, while concurrently highlighting the state’s development achievements through themed displays. Innovative elements such as green crackers, a laser light show and 3‑D mapping projections added a contemporary flair to the traditional festivities.
In his address, the Vice President commended the organizers, noting that he had never witnessed an event of such grandeur in his four‑decade public service career. Responding to criticism by Akhilesh Yadav regarding earlier karsevak incidents, Minister Singh urged the Samajwadi Party to reflect on its stance and apologize to affected families.
The minister concluded by extending blessings of Lord Rama to all citizens and reaffirmed India’s commitment to rising as a global cultural and development leader grounded in Sanatan tradition.
