Alok Kumar, the international president of the VHP, described the 2020 Delhi riot case as belonging to the "rarest of rare" category, arguing that the accused deserved the death penalty. Kumar highlighted that Tahir Hussain had been elected to the municipal corporation, sworn an oath under the Constitution, yet was later charged with inciting riots and the murder of a police inspector.
According to the post‑mortem report, the inspector suffered 51 knife wounds before his body was discarded in a drain, an act Kumar labeled as barbaric. While acknowledging the court’s life‑sentence ruling, Kumar insisted that the severity of the crime warranted a harsher punishment.
