Uttarakhand Leads ‘One Nation One Education’ Push, Inspires Other States
Dehradun, July 3 – In an interview, Shadab Shams, chairman of the Uttarakhand Waqf Board, said the state’s continued emphasis on a unified education system is reshaping national policy. He cited the recent request from Chhattisgarh for Uttarakhand’s Minority Education Authority draft as evidence that the model is gaining traction beyond state borders.
Shams recalled Uttarakhand’s early adoption of the Uniform Civil Code, describing it as a historic move toward “one nation, one law.” He noted that the same principle now guides education reforms, with the upcoming Minority Education Authority guaranteeing that every school follows the NCERT curriculum.
He added that the removal of the Madrasa Board and its replacement by a minority‑focused authority reflects the central government’s commitment to standardising education while respecting diversity.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami received Shams’s commendation for his role in driving these initiatives, which he believes will enable the slogan “Padhenga Bharat, Badhega Bharat” to translate into measurable progress for the nation’s future.
