A cloudburst in Uttarkashi’s Silai Band, situated along the Barkot-Yamunotri Marg, resulted in extensive damage to an under-construction hotel site on Sunday, June 29, 2025. Authorities have reported that between 8 and 9 workers who were residing at the site are currently missing. A rescue and search operation has been initiated, as stated by Uttarkashi District Magistrate Prashant Arya. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been deployed to the construction site to assist in the search efforts.
