State Officials Push for Timely Sugarcane Crush in Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh’s district authorities have issued a clear directive to accelerate the start of the sugarcane crush season across the state’s mills. In a meeting convened by the District Magistrate on Monday, officials discussed the need to finalize the cane‑price limit and to get all sugar mills operational before the onset of the October harvest.

The agenda focused on removing procedural bottlenecks that have historically delayed mill start‑ups. Senior officials instructed mill managers to expedite pending clearances, complete maintenance tasks, and ensure that any technical issues—such as the turbine failure experienced at Triveni Sugar Mill—are resolved promptly.

The administration also emphasized the importance of clearing farmer dues before the crush begins. Prompt payment is seen as essential to maintaining farmer confidence and ensuring a steady supply of high‑quality cane.

With the District Magistrate’s team set to conduct on‑site reviews of each mill, the government aims to have all sugar factories ready for the October crush, thereby safeguarding the state’s sugar production targets and supporting the agrarian economy.
