Uttar Pradesh Ministers Question Congress Over Meat Serving in Ram’s Birthplace

The recent fish-and-rice reception hosted for Congress leader Ajay Rai in Ayodhya has drawn criticism from senior ministers of the Uttar Pradesh government. Both O P Rajbhar and Narendra Kashyap questioned the decision to serve non‑vegetarian food in a city considered the birthplace of Lord Ram.

Kashyap warned that political events in Ayodhya should avoid meat dishes to respect the city's spiritual aura. He suggested alternative ways to welcome guests, such as cultural performances or vegetarian meals, that would align with local customs.

Rajbhar highlighted that many citizens observe a fast during the holy month of Shravan, making the timing of the fish banquet appear tone‑deaf. He accused the Congress of exploiting religious sentiment for political gain.

The ministers also raised concerns about rising sugar prices, stating that illegal storage of sugar is being investigated. They assured the public that crackdowns on hoarders are in progress and that market stabilization is expected soon.
