In a decisive push towards India’s upcoming Census-2027, Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary SP Goyal has set a hard deadline of April 10 for wrapping up initial house listing and census groundwork. The instruction came during a comprehensive review via video conferencing with top regional and district officials on Wednesday.

Accompanied by Registrar General Mritunjay Kumar Narayan, who shared implementation insights, Goyal spotlighted the massive scale: 5.5 lakh enumerators and supervisors need prompt digital profiling. Urban dense pockets, slums, and migratory zones demand flawless coverage, he noted.

Training protocols are non-negotiable—rigorous sessions from April 16 to May 7, fully equipped and compliant, must conclude by early May. Enumeration blocks require precise geo-tagging, backed by new technical hires to eliminate discrepancies.

Innovation shines through with a self-enumeration portal opening May 7, 2026, for two weeks, empowering citizens to self-report. Goyal ordered aggressive publicity drives to drive uptake.

‘Census data charts our developmental destiny,’ Narayan remarked, pushing for community involvement to yield authentic figures. UP’s census will be end-to-end digital, revolutionizing data handling.

As per Director Sheetal Verma’s briefing, Phase 1 house counts run May 22-June 20, 2026, with population tally February 9-28, 2027. This structured approach positions UP as a leader in digital census excellence, promising robust insights for policy-making.
