BJP spokesperson Pratul Shahdev has voiced strong support for the US-Iran two-week ceasefire, labeling it a positive breakthrough after prolonged strife. In detailed remarks, he underscored its potential to evolve into enduring peace, aligning with India’s longstanding position on regional stability.

The conflict had severely impacted the Strait of Hormuz, through which 20-22% of global oil—including vital LPG and CNG—transits daily. Total closure led to widespread disruptions: nations imposed fuel rationing, shuttered businesses, and suspended schools amid acute shortages. Shahdev noted exceptions for Indian ships, but the global fallout was undeniable.

‘This is heartening news we’ve awaited for ages,’ Shahdev told reporters. He called for diplomatic efforts to solidify the truce, preventing further economic shocks.

JD(U)’s Sanjay Kumar Jha, a Rajya Sabha MP and working president, decried the war’s one-month duration as deeply regrettable, citing US presidential posts on X that fueled tensions. The skirmishes exacerbated worldwide gas pressures, posing risks to humanity at large.

Jha highlighted India’s active diplomacy with Iran, America, and Israel, optimistic about rapid de-escalation. National spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan warned of market volatility if the ceasefire falters, emphasizing that Middle East unrest reverberates globally.

‘All sides must pursue rational solutions alongside the truce,’ Ranjan urged, to avert catastrophe. With energy markets on edge, this pause offers a critical window for negotiations. Failure could plunge the world into deeper recession, making sustained peace imperative for collective prosperity.
