Upcoming Rain and Thunderstorms to Ease Delhi's Scorching Summer
Residents of Delhi and surrounding NCR districts have been coping with oppressive heat and humidity. Early on June 30, the weather pattern shifted as dense clouds gathered, signalling the onset of rain and thunder.
The India Meteorological Department forecasts a temperature decline of roughly seven to eight degrees Celsius over the next week. For June 30, the agency expects a maximum of 39°C and a minimum of 30°C, with scattered thunderstorms likely throughout the day.
A special caution has been released warning of possible lightning after the afternoon hours. On July 1, conditions are projected to become more pleasant, with a high of 37°C, a low of 28°C, overcast skies and moderate precipitation.
Further alerts indicate strong surface winds during the later part of the day. July 2 may register the sharpest cooling, with daytime temperatures falling to 33°C and nighttime lows to 23°C, alongside vigorous rain, lightning strikes and gusty winds.
The pattern is set to persist through July 3 to July 6, where highs will stay in the low‑mid 30s and lows in the early 20s, accompanied by regular thunderstorm activity. No additional special warnings have been announced for these dates, but the continuous monsoon influence is expected to deliver significant relief from the scorching summer heat.
