State Announces Up to ₹2 Lakh Farm Loan Waiver and ₹50,000 Incentive

The plan authorises a waiver of up to Rs 2 lakh for eligible agricultural debtors. In addition, farmers who regularly repay their loans will receive a one‑time incentive of Rs 50,000. The scheme originally excluded beneficiaries who had already taken advantage of the 2019 waiver. However, a review of the beneficiary list showed that roughly 600,000 of the 1.2 million excluded farmers could afford a contribution of only Rs 10,000‑12,000 from their own pockets to qualify for the new benefits. Based on this finding, the government decided to extend the Rs 50,000 assistance to all eligible cultivators.
