UP Minister Says MLC Results Will Expose SP Setback
Lucknow, October 23: Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister Chaudhary Bhupendra Singh has criticised Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav, alleging that attacking constitutional institutions is an old habit of the opposition leader.
Singh said the Samajwadi Party had earlier objected to Electronic Voting Machines. Now, with elections being held through ballot papers, the party has begun to see alleged rigging in that process too.
He said the outcome of the MLC elections would allow the Samajwadi Party to realistically judge its ground-level situation and actual strength.
The minister called the MLC polls a trailer for the 2027 Assembly elections and said the Bharatiya Janata Party was poised for a thumping victory. He asserted that Akhilesh Yadav's grand claims would be defeated and that the SP leader would struggle to face the public and media after the results.
Singh recalled that Uttar Pradesh voters had already signalled their preferences in the Rajya Sabha elections. He said the Samajwadi Party should review the capabilities of its leadership and the activity of its workers.
Singh also accused the party of blaming others for its failures. He cited Samajwadi Party national general secretary Ramgopal Yadav, stating that Yadav had himself accepted that officials were not at fault in the election. Singh further said party workers had not made adequate efforts to register names in the voter list.
Akhilesh Yadav, he said, should learn a lesson from his uncle's statement.
