UP Health Expansion Praised at Doctors Day Event in Lucknow
The National Doctors Day celebration in Sarojini Nagar, Lucknow, turned into a platform to showcase Uttar Pradesh’s health‑care progress. Finance Minister Saurabh Khanna, present as the chief guest, highlighted the state’s rapid development of medical infrastructure.
He cited the launch of numerous new medical colleges and a marked rise in undergraduate and postgraduate seats as evidence of the government’s commitment. The health sector’s budget, Khanna noted, is being regularly increased to eliminate any gaps in essential medical services.
The minister emphasized that the ultimate aim is to bring quality health care within reach of every citizen. He praised doctors for their unwavering dedication, saying that a saved life transforms a doctor into a god‑like figure for the patient’s family. He wrapped up his speech by wishing all doctors a joyous Doctors’ Day.
The event also featured remarks from MLA Dr. Rajeshwar Singh, who spoke about the role of modern medicine in raising India's average life expectancy from around 35 years at independence to nearly 70 years today.
