Ujjain's Mahakaleshwar Temple Holds Spectacular Ash Aarti on Bhadrapada Dvadasi

The sacred grounds of Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain were alive with devotion on the Bhadrapada Krishna Paksha Dvadasi. After the priest invoked Lord Veerbhadra, the temple doors were swung open amid the resonance of drums and nagadas. Baba Mahakal received a special panchamrit abhishek, followed by the traditional camphor aarti. The deity was then crowned and embellished with a tripund and a Rudraksha necklace, portraying a kingly image. The crowd, many of whom had queued since the previous night, chanted "Jai Shri Mahakal" as the aarti culminated in a cascade of bells and conch sounds.
