Ujjain Temple Lights Up with Panchamrit Abhishek and Fireworks
The Diwali celebration at Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain reached its climax with a spectacular panchamrit abhishek and a dazzling fireworks show on November 8.
Priests first applied a rich ubatan on the idol, blending fragrant herbs, sandalwood and essential oils. This was followed by an abhyang snan, a ceremonial bathing with hot water, and the revered ash arti, where sacred ash was gently spread over the deity.
Fresh grains, vegetables and a generous bhog offering honored the Annakut tradition. The sanctum resonated with chants of “Jai Shri Mahakal,” the ringing of bells, conch blasts and rhythmic tabla beats.
The panchamrit—milk, curd, ghee, honey and fruit juices—was poured over the idol, symbolising divine nourishment. As the rituals concluded, the sky over Ujjain illuminated with fireworks, creating a vibrant backdrop for the faithful gathered in devotion.
The entire temple complex reverberated with the sound of drums and cymbals, as devotees left the premises feeling blessed and uplifted, carrying the spirit of Diwali to the broader community.
