Ujjain Temple Hosts Majestic Ash Aarti of Mahakaleshwar on September 13

The historic Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain marked the Bhadrapada Shukla Paksha Dwitiya with an elaborate Ash Aarti dedicated to Baba Mahakal on Sunday, September 13. The event attracted a large congregation that filled the temple courtyard, echoing chants of "Jai Shri Mahakal" throughout the day.

After receiving the priest’s command, the sacred doors were opened amidst the rhythmic beats of drums and nagada. The priest performed a traditional Panchamrit abhishek, mixing milk, curd, clarified butter, honey, and fruit juices, which was poured over the deity as a symbol of divine nourishment.

Following the abhishek, the idol was adorned with Bhang, Tripund, and a triple‑eyed decorative pattern, alongside a lavish flower garland. The Kapur Aarti was performed, and the deity was crowned with an ornate crown, enhancing the visual splendor of the ceremony.

The concluding Mahaa‑Aarti involved synchronized drumming, conch blasts, and mantra recitations, creating a powerful spiritual ambience. Devotees, dressed in traditional dhoti‑sohla and sarees, remained on the premises well after the rituals, participating in evening prayers and sharing the sacred experience.
