Uddhav Thackeray’s ‘BJP‑Free Ram’ Remark Criticised by Surendra Jain
When Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray launched a "BJP‑free Ram" campaign, Surendra Jain dismissed the statement as a desperate political stunt. Jain argued that Thackeray’s divergence from his father Balasaheb Thackeray’s path and his alignment with groups critical of Ram has weakened his political standing.
Jain said, "Such remarks are born out of confusion and desperation. History shows that anyone who tries to oppose Lord Ram fails." He pointed out that the campaign ignores the centuries‑long sacrifices that led to the temple’s construction and warned that exploiting the sacred issue for party gains would never be accepted by the public.
The VHP leader also mentioned that accusations have surfaced on social media regarding alleged irregularities at the Badrinath pilgrimage, prompting a quick investigative committee. Similar allegations have been raised against the Dargah Sharif in Ajmer and Delhi’s Jama Masjid, cases that have seen mixed outcomes after investigations.
