As part of the ‘Udān’ initiative, the government has earmarked ₹28,840 crore to fast‑track aviation‑related development for the next ten years. The scheme focuses on upgrading 100 under‑utilised airstrips, with a budget of over ₹12,000 crore for new airports, and earmarks more than ₹2,500 crore for operating and maintenance support during the early years of regional airport operations. Additionally, the plan proposes the construction of 200 modern heli‑pads to improve connectivity in remote and difficult‑to‑reach areas.
