Tyagi Defends Reservation Policy and Praises First Woman in Ram Trust

K.C. Tyagi, senior RLD politician, used his September 4 address to reaffirm the constitutional backbone of India’s reservation system. He dismissed the commentary of Aniruddh Acharya, emphasizing that the Constitution explicitly safeguards seats for socially and economically disadvantaged groups, and any debate must respect that legal foundation.

While defending reservation, Tyagi also celebrated a historic inclusion: the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Trust has welcomed its first female member. He hailed the appointment as a catalyst for women’s empowerment, urging more religious and civic bodies to follow suit.

The RLD leader did not stop there. He criticized the Bahujan Samaj Party’s unilateral decision to fight the Uttar Pradesh polls alone, describing it as a tactic of negative politics designed to fragment the opposition.

He further addressed O.P. Rajbhar’s sensational claim that the ‘P’ in the SP’s PDA alliance stands for ‘first loss’, noting that senior SP leaders have reinterpreted the term repeatedly, making such a definition tenuous.

On the issue of Telangana’s cabinet, Tyagi explained that the dismissal of minister Konda Surekha was linked to a series of controversies involving her daughter, indicating that the decision was a response to mounting pressures rather than a routine reshuffle.

Regarding actress Swara Bhaskar’s remarks on Hindu women and Jauhar, Tyagi pointed out that she subsequently retracted her words, urging the audience to respect her clarification while reaffirming his stance against Sati.

Tyagi’s multi‑topic briefing underscored the RLD’s focus on constitutional fidelity, gender parity, and caution against polarising political strategies.
