Two Convicted Murderers Appeal Life Sentences in High Court

Two of the men sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of IB officer Ankit Sharma have filed petitions challenging their verdicts in the Delhi High Court. The convicted, identified as Nazim and Kasim, approached the bench of Justice Pratibha M. Singh and Justice Vikas Mahajan, seeking relief from the life terms imposed on July 31.

The petitioners contend that procedural lapses and insufficient proof marred the trial court’s findings. In response, the Delhi Police has been served a notice to comment on the appeal, confirming that the state will oppose any reduction of the sentences.

The High Court has set December 2 as the next date for oral arguments, where it will examine the merits of the appeal alongside the police’s counter‑filings.
