A tragic crash on National Highway‑53 in the jurisdiction of Kumhari police station left four family members dead on Thursday. The deceased were identified as Amrita Nirmalkar, 28, her sister Lakshmi Nirmalkar, 26, and Amrita’s daughters, Yachna (7) and Dali (4). The group was traveling on a scooter from Somni, Bhilai‑3, to an uncle’s house in Vasant Vihar when they struck the rear of a stationary tractor that was carrying oxygen cylinders. The impact killed the two women and their two daughters at the scene. The sole surviving child, eight‑year‑old Bavesh, suffered severe injuries and is being treated at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Raipur.
