Two Alleged Rapists Captured Following Shootout in Kanpur Rural Area

A shootout in a remote part of Kanpur district resulted in the apprehension of two men accused of committing rape against a minor. The suspects, residents of the nearby village of Katethi, were tracked down after a detailed probe into the assault.

When the police arrived at the location, the duo attempted to flee and opened fire, prompting a brief armed confrontation. One of the perpetrators, Anil, was hit in the foot and required hospitalization. Kalika, his accomplice, was taken into custody without further incident.

Authorities recovered a makeshift gun (315 bore) and a stock of cartridges, which were secured as evidence. The operation was directed by Deputy Superintendent Shraddha Narendra Pandey, who commended the rapid response of the Gajner police unit.

The case has been registered under relevant sections of the law, and investigators are now gathering additional statements from the victim's family and local witnesses. The police have emphasized that they will leave no stone unturned in bringing the perpetrators to justice.
