In a momentous occasion, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar’s counterpart, C.P. Radhakrishnan, attended Tripura University’s 14th convocation at its Suryamaninagar campus near Agartala. The day began with his visit to the iconic Mata Tripura Sundari Temple for darshan.
In his keynote speech, Radhakrishnan inspired the youth to contribute to nation-building, foster societal progress through innovation, and champion cultural values. He praised the institution’s evolution into a dynamic center excelling in education, research, and cutting-edge innovation.
Turning to economic prospects, the Vice President lauded the ‘Matabari Tourism Circuit’ for its potential to position Tripura as a spiritual and green tourism destination worldwide. This project is set to create employment opportunities and invigorate the local economy, building on the substantial progress achieved in the last 10 years under PM Modi’s visionary guidance.
Key attendees included Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu, who also serves as the university’s chancellor, CM Prof. Manik Saha, Chief Secretary Jitendra Kumar Sinha, VC Prof. Shyamal Das, Registrar Prof. Samir Kumar Sil, and more.
Due to prior disruptions, the 2024 and 2025 convocations were not held, leading to this consolidated event. Hundreds of students were honored: 283 with gold medals across departments and 149 with PhD degrees, alongside certificates and regular degrees.
Radhakrishnan’s northeast tour continued from Nagaland University’s event in Kohima and Mizoram University’s convocation in Aizawl, where he received a rousing reception at the airport from top state leaders including Governor Gen. Vijay Kumar Singh (Retd.) and Education Minister Vanlalthlana.
