Tripura CM Saha: 80% Referral Drop, New Med College in TTAADC

In a boost for Tripura's healthcare system, Chief Minister Manik Saha announced groundbreaking developments during the International Nurses Day celebration in Agartala. The state has achieved an impressive 80% reduction in out-of-state patient referrals, a direct result of prioritizing health service expansion across all districts. Addressing the gathering at Ravindra Satabdi Bhawan, Saha inaugurated the event and honored Florence Nightingale's legacy. He described her as a beacon of mercy whose work revolutionized nursing worldwide. With health under his direct oversight, the CM outlined major projects to enhance treatment facilities within Tripura. A state medical university is on the horizon, alongside super-specialty hospitals. Notably, a fresh medical college will rise in the TTAADC area, paired with a state-of-the-art eye hospital to serve tribal communities effectively. Saha, drawing from his background as a dental surgeon, reiterated the mission to keep advanced care local. This shift promises to save lives, time, and resources for countless families. Nurses, he noted, form the spine of the medical framework. Facing daily trials, they emerge stronger, fostering deep patient confidence. Their contributions proved invaluable during the pandemic, where they battled alongside doctors as frontline heroes. The government is investing heavily in nursing careers, with recent hires of 153 staff and upcoming recruitment for 100 additional roles. Saha urged continued focus on health workers' welfare to sustain momentum. Key attendees included Health and Family Welfare Secretary Kiran Gitte, Director Debashree Debbarma, and other senior leaders, marking a unified push towards healthcare excellence in Tripura.
