Abhishek Banerjee, the Trinamool Congress general secretary, chose not to attend the scheduled interrogation at Shakespeare Sarani police station. In an email, he asked that any future questioning be communicated at least two days in advance. The request comes after police filed three FIRs alleging that party workers assaulted officers and attempted to insult a female police official during the August 27 incident at his Camac Street office. Fourteen arrests have been made, and the police are now waiting for Banerjee’s reply to the latest notice.
