Tributes Flow as Indian Leaders Remember Jain Saint Tarun Sagar
New Delhi, September 1 — A wave of reverence swept across political circles on the puṇyati of the renowned Jain saint, thinker and austere monk Tarun Sagar Maharaj.
Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari posted a short but respectful note: “Humble salutations to the nation’s saint, Munshi Tarun Sagar Ji.”
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla offered an extensive tribute, highlighting that the monk’s “vibrant, fearless and motivating speeches have shown dharma as a practice of self‑restraint, compassion and societal welfare.” He emphasized how Tarun Sagar communicated Mahavira’s principles of non‑violence, truth, non‑attachment, compassion and self‑purification in an accessible and compelling manner.
Union Housing, Urban Affairs and Power Minister Manoj Mishra used X to say, “I present a heartfelt homage to the living embodiment of truth, Ahimsa and compassion – the great saint and philosopher, Jain Munshi Param Pūjya Shri Tarun Sagar Ji Maharaj. Your bitter‑sweet discourses have guided countless people toward truth and righteousness.”
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s post read, “A modest homage to the great Jain saint, nation‑thinking monk and ascetic Tarun Sagar Maharaj. His contemplative, disciplined existence and messages anchored in truth, non‑violence and moral conduct will continue to inspire societal self‑examination and noble behavior.”
Rajasthan’s CM Bhajanlal Sharma honored the saint, stating, “A hundredfold salutation to the great spiritual guide who strengthened truth, moderation and virtue across society – Jain Munshi Shri Tarun Sagar Ji Maharaj.”
Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav posted, “I render a sincere tribute to the saint‑scholar, Jain Munshi and respected teacher Tarun Sagar Maharaj. Your enlightening narratives always awaken truth and foster positive, humanitarian direction.”
UP Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya wrote, “A reverent salute to the eminent Jain monk and unique bearer of India’s sacred saint tradition, Munshi Shri Tarun Sagar Ji Maharaj. His divine counsel for a simple, stress‑free life still shows countless individuals the way to spiritual peace and balanced living.”
Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak’s brief note simply said, “Sincere homage to the saint‑leader Jain Munshi Shri Tarun Sagar Ji Maharaj.”
Bihar Minister Vijay Kumar Singh posted, “My countless respects to the steadfast trailblazer of truth and Ahimsa, the celebrated Jain saint and philosopher Tarun Sagar Maharaj.”
Delhi Minister Pravesh Verma concluded, “Respectful reverence to Jain Munshi and nation‑saint Tarun Sagar Ji on his puṇyati. His austerity, sacrifice, self‑discipline and inspiring thoughts will forever motivate society toward truth, Ahimsa and ethical conduct.”
