Tree fall damages prompt appeal for compensation in Mumbai
Among the many hazards of the recent storms, falling trees have caused significant property loss and threatened livelihoods. Neelam Ghorhe submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Fadnavis demanding immediate financial aid and rehabilitation for families affected by uprooted trees.
She argued that when trees belong to the municipal corporation, the legal framework already provides for compensation. Ghorhe called for a statewide relief scheme that would cover all victims and expedite payouts.
Residents were also advised to stay indoors unless absolutely necessary and to follow all safety directives issued by local authorities. Legislative work has been temporarily paused to allow representatives to focus on on‑ground relief activities.
